Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Grove Karma platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Grove Karma ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Grove Karma.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account using one of our supported authentication methods (Google, Apple, or email magic link). You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are inactive for an extended period.

4. Communities

4.1 Creating Communities

You may create up to 3 communities on the platform. As a community creator and admin, you are responsible for setting and enforcing your community's rules, karma values, and task policies within the framework provided by the Service.

4.2 Joining Communities

Communities are private and invite-based. To join a community, you must apply and be approved by the community admin. Community names and descriptions are listed in a public directory, but membership and activity within communities are visible only to members.

4.3 Community Conduct

Each community has its own rules set by its admin. Failure to follow community rules, including missing mandatory task deadlines, may result in warnings. The community admin may remove members at their discretion.

5. Karma System

Karma is a per-community currency used within the Service. Important rules:

• Karma is earned by completing tasks assigned or volunteered within a community
• Karma is spent to create tasks requesting help from community members
• Karma balances cannot go negative
• Karma earn and spend values are set by each community's admin
• Karma has no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, transferred between communities, or redeemed for cash
• We reserve the right to adjust karma balances in cases of fraud or system errors

6. Tasks

6.1 Task Types

The Service supports two types of tasks: mandatory tasks (assigned to all community members) and volunteer tasks (optional, picked up by members who choose to participate).

6.2 Task Completion

All task completions require verification through screenshot uploads. You agree that:

• Screenshots must accurately represent the completed task
• Submitting fake or misleading screenshots is grounds for account termination
• Community admins have the authority to approve or reject task submissions

6.3 Warning System

Missing mandatory task deadlines results in automatic warnings. Communities set their own warning thresholds. Exceeding the warning threshold may freeze your ability to create tasks. Community admins may remove members based on their warning history.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent task completions
• Create fake accounts or manipulate the karma system
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Spam communities with irrelevant or promotional task requests

8. User Content

You retain ownership of content you upload to the Service (screenshots, profile information, task descriptions). By uploading content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and display that content as necessary to operate the Service.

You are solely responsible for the content you upload. We do not endorse or verify user-submitted content and are not liable for any content posted by users.

9. Products and External Links

The Service allows users to share links to their products and external platforms (Product Hunt, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc.) through tasks. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of external websites or services linked through tasks.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Extended inactivity
• Any other reason at our sole discretion

Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease. Your karma balances, task history, and community memberships will be permanently deleted.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Task completions by other users will meet your expectations
• The Service will produce any specific business results
• Other users will fulfill their community obligations

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Grove Karma shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use of or inability to use the Service
• Any conduct or content of other users of the Service
• Unauthorized access to or use of your account
• Any actions taken by community admins

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Grove Karma, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another user.

14. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting the updated version on this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
